Mother and two children dead, father missing, in Magway region flash flood

A woman and both of her children have died after a creek overflowed due to heavy rains in Pakokku, the biggest city in Myanmar’s central Magway region. The woman’s husband is still missing after the flood waters destroyed their family home. The bodies of the two children were found immediately on Saturday morning. Their mother’s body was found later that evening, according to locals. Firefighters and locals are still searching for the man. Arakan Army rebels capture Myanmar junta border outpost

The rebel Arakan Army fighting Myanmar’s military junta on Monday captured an outpost on the country’s border with Bangladesh, killing 30 soldiers and capturing three more, sources told Radio Free Asia. Fighting in Myanmar’s Sagaing region kills 16 anti-junta fighters

Fighting over the weekend in northwestern Myanmar’s restive Sagaing region between the military junta’s soldiers and People’s Defense Force (PDF)  militias left 16 rebels dead, with some corpses showing signs of severe torture, local sources told RFA. “They had tortured them inhumanely.
