Cambodia to Continue to Import Used Cars

Prime Minister Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet said Cambodia will not ban any import of old or used cars, but has to ensure the technical inspection.

Addressing the groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of twin flyovers at the intersection between Samdech Techo Hun Sen Blvd. and the National Road No. 2 held here this morning, Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet said some initiatives had been raised to ban old cars into the country, but he rejected.

The Royal Government has no policy to prohibit people from buying more cars, but the strengthening of car technical inspection is needed, he added.

The Premier also underlined the Royal Government’s efforts in solving the problem of traffic congestion in the capital city.

According to the Ministry of Public Works and Transport, from 1992 to 2023, Cambodia had a total of total 1,14 million cars.
