LANDSLIDE CAUSES SOME CASUALTIES IN MYANMAR’S NORTHERN STATE

YANGON, Myanmar, Some casualties occurred, due to a landslide in Hpakant mining region, in Myanmar’s Kachin state, on Friday night, an official from Lone-Khin police department, told the media on Saturday.

The landslide occurred due to the collapse of spoil tip, near Lone-Khin jade mining area, at 10:50 p.m. local time, on Friday.

“The accident is under investigation by the authorities, and no further details about casualties are reported yet,” he added.

Rescue operations are under way, as some mining company staff and trucks were buried under the rubble, a rescue worker, said.
