KATHMANDU, State Counsellor of Myanmar Aung San Suu Kyi and Nepalese Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli held bilateral talks here on Friday.
During the talks, the two sides discussed a wide range of issues pertaining to Nepal-Myanmar relations, Nepal’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs said.
“The prime minister and the state counsellor noted with satisfaction the growing engagements between the two countries,” the ministry stated in a press statement.
Prime Minister Oli’s foreign relations advisor, Rajan Bhattarai, who participated in the meeting, told Xinhua, “The two sides stressed the need to further expand cooperation in the fields of culture, tourism, investment and political consultations.”
Bhattarai said that the two sides also discussed about the possibilities of launching direct flights between Nepal’s southern city of Bhairahawa and Yangon city of Myanmar, to boost cooperation in the field of tourism.
The two sides also stressed the need to continue exchange of high-level visits, according to the foreign relations advisor.
