THUNDERSTORMS KILLED SEVEN IN MYANMAR IN TWO MONTHS

YANGON, Strong wind and thunderstorms killed seven people in Myanmar’s Ayeyarwady region over the past two months, local media 7Day Daily reported Saturday.

China’s Xinhua news agency reported from March 1 to May 18, about 6,500 houses were destroyed by severe weather with seven people killed by the lightning strike.

Hinthada, Myan Aung, Mawlamyinegyun and Wakema towns in Ayeyarwady region are mostly affected by the severe weather accompanied by gale-force wind, hails, thunder and lightning.

The weather expert has warned people in coastal areas and southern regions of strong wind and thundershower.

To mitigate the impact of disaster, the country people are also urged to raise awareness against the disaster by following the instructions.
