The Ministry of Labour and Vocational Training marked today the 137th International Labour Day under the country\u2019s full peace, enabling people to get employed, and the labour rights and working conditions to be promoted.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
The event was attended by some 500 workers, unions, civil servants, and representatives from partner international organisations.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
Speaking at the event, H.E. Ith Samheng, Minister of Labour and Vocational Training, emphasised the Royal Government\u2019s continued commitment to firmly maintaining and protecting peace, stability, security and public order so that the country can achieve more development in all areas.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
\u201cUnder peace, in Cambodia, the rights and freedoms of professional organisations are respected and the working conditions are guaranteed,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
The garment, footwear and travel goods industry is the largest foreign exchange earner for Cambodia. The sector consists of roughly 1,100 factories and branches, employing approximately 750,000 workers, mostly female.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
Cambodia exported garment products worth US$9.03 billion in 2022, accounting for 40.1 percent of the Kingdom’s total export of US$22.48 billion, according to a report from the General Department of Customs and Excise.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
