\n KOTA BHARU, Air Kelantan Sdn Bhd (AKSB) has announced that the water supply disruption that occurred in Paloh 3, Gua Musang,and its surrounding areas were due to a power outage at the Paloh water treatment plant in Gua Musang.<\/p>\n
The company said in a statement that the power outage of nearly 18 hours between April 6 and 8, had a direct impact on the plant’s daily operations, with a total of 100 out of 371 consumer accounts in the area affected.<\/p>\n
A short-term solution of placing static tanks at affected areas will be implemented should the disruption of water supply continue.<\/p>\n
‘In the long-term, the plant’s operations will be extended and a specific generator will be prepared for festive seasons,’ the company said.<\/p>\n
The company also shared that the water supply disruption in Gunong, Bachok, especially in Taman Putri Saadong and its surrounding areas, were periodic and affected by high demand for water during festive seasons in Kelantan.<\/p>\n
‘The problem is due reduced supply of water at Chicha water treatment due
\nto the influx of salt water at Sungai Pengkalan Datu, Pasir Tumbuh, which exceeds the permitted level of 250 parts per million.<\/p>\n
‘This causes a reduction in water intake from the Pasir Tumbuh radial well that supplies raw ater to Chicha to 10 million litres a day compared to the previous 15 million litres daily,’ AKSB said, adding that a static tank has been placed in each of the four affected areas, Pasar Gunong, Taman Puteri Saadong, Taman Hamidah and Kampung Telaga Ara.<\/p>\n
A long-term plan includes allowing Telok water treatment plant to service the areas and to boost water pressure through the Jelawat water treatment plant, the company added.<\/p>\n
