Yoon arrives in Singapore for state visit

President Yoon Suk Yeol arrived in Singapore on Monday for a state visit aimed at boosting economic and security ties with the nation.

Yoon flew in from the Philippines, the first leg of his three-nation trip that will also take him to Laos later this week for a series of annual regional summits led by the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN).

On Tuesday, Yoon will hold a summit with Prime Minister Lawrence Wong to discuss cooperation in areas such as artificial intelligence, defense, and supply chains.

He is also scheduled to meet Singapore President Tharman Shanmugaratnam and former Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong and attend a business forum.

A group of business leaders, including Samsung Electronics Co. Chairman Lee Jae-yong and Hyundai Motor Group Executive Chair Euisun Chung, are expected to attend the forum.

On Wednesday, Yoon will deliver a speech on South Korea’s unification vision and then travel to Laos.
