33 MACC PERSONNEL ON DUTY FOR NENGGIRI BY-ELECTION

KOTA BHARU, A total of 33 officers and personnel of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) will be on duty in the upcoming Nenggiri state by-election in August.

Kelantan MACC director Rosli Husain said the personnel will work three shifts each day – morning, afternoon, and night – in the main operations rooms at both the State MACC headquarters in Kota Bharu and the Gua Musang Branch office.

‘The operations room in Kota Bharu will operate 24 hours a day, while the one in Gua Musang will be open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. to ensure seamless operations throughout the Nenggiri by-election,’ he told reporters after attending the ‘Komited Memperkasa Budaya Tolak Rasuah’ programme at the Kota Darulnaim Complex here today.

Rosli said that the public can channel any information or file complaints regarding corruption and abuse of power during the election to the MACC for further action.

He also reminded all candidates and political parties contesting not to violate laws and regulations under the MACC Act 2009
and the Election Offences Act 1954.

Kelantan State Assembly Speaker Datuk Mohd Amar Nik Abdullah announced the state seat vacant starting June 19.

The casual seat vacancy for Nenggiri was announced after the Kelantan State Assembly received a written notice in accordance with Clause (3) of Article 31A of the Kelantan Constitution from Nenggiri state assemblyman Mohd Azizi Abu Naim on June 13.

The Election Commission has set the nomination day and early voting for the by-election on Aug 3 and Aug 13, respectively, while polling day will be on Aug 17.
