The Rahmah Sales programme in conjunction with Hari Raya Aidiladha will be held at 600 state constituencies (DUN) nationwide from tomorrow until June 28.
Deputy Minister of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Fuziah Salleh said the sales programme would offer 16 items, such as chicken, meat and eggs, with a discount of between 10 and 30 per cent.
“Through collaboration with strategic partners, we will offer at least 16 items for the festive season.
“The ministry also provides subsidies to traders, and they will offer goods with the prices that we have agreed upon,” she told a press conference after officiating the national-level Student Consumer Movement Programme 2023 here today.
Meanwhile, Fuziah said the MYSaveFood Programme, an initiative to reduce food waste at Ramadan bazaars, would be expanded to night markets.
She said the programme is set to benefit students from higher learning institutions (IPT).
“We want this programme to continue, so from now on, we will work with IPTs who expressed their willingness to implement this programme in the near future, possibly after Hari Raya Aidiladha,” she said.
Fuziah said 25 tonnes of food was saved and distributed to about 50,000 people under the MYSaveFood programme at Ramadan bazaars.
