AMIZAR VOWS TO DO HIS BEST FOR PELANGAI

Datuk Amizar Abu Adam has vowed to carry out his duties as best as possible and continue the legacy of the late Datuk Seri Johari Harun after winning the Pelangai by-election here today.

Amizar, 53, who represented Barisan Nasional (BN), expressed gratitude over the victory after losing in the Ketari state seat contest in the 15th General Election (GE15).

He also thanked the BN leadership and the voters for trusting him to be the people’s representative in Pelangai.

“I thank the voters in the Pelangai state constituency who have chosen BN to continue to serve here,” he said when met at the official vote counting centre at the Felda Kemasul Community Hall here tonight.

The Bentong UMNO Committee member won with a majority of 2,949 votes after garnering 7,324 votes, defeating Perikatan Nasional’s (PN) Kasim Samat (4,375 votes) and Independent candidate Haslihelmy DM Zulhasni (47 votes).

Today’s by-election was held following the unexpected vacancy of the state seat after the death of Johari – who was also the chairman of the Pahang Local Government, Housing, Environment and Green Technology Committee – in a plane crash in Shah Alam, Selangor, on Aug 17.
