Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet said BYD – a publicly listed Chinese multinational manufacturing company – has intended to open an automobile assembly plant in the Kingdom.

While presiding over a get-together and a solidarity dinner with Cambodian small and medium enterprises and handicrafts in Phnom Penh on June 27 on the occasion of the First National Day of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet said this is a good news for Cambodia in addition to the existing plants of Ford, Toyota, etc.

At the same time, Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet continued to call on the private sector, especially the micro, small and medium enterprises to further join hands with the Royal Government to further achieve the country’s development goals.

Cambodia currently has six automobile assembly plants, included Daehan Auto manufacturing Ssangyong, RMA Automotive making Ford, Camko Motor producing Hyundai, HGB Motors Assembly manufacturing Kia, GTV Motor producing local brand
cars GTV, and Toyota Tsusho Manufacturing (Cambodia) making Fortuner and Hilux.

From January to May 2024, Cambodia had imported some US$385 million worth of vehicles.
