Cambodia will continue its best to make friend with all countries over the world as Cambodia is one of non-aligned nations, said Prime Minister Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet.
Speaking at a get-together with some 2,500 Cambodian nationals residing in the U.S. and Canada in New York early this morning (Phnom Penh time), Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet said the Royal Government of Cambodia is the legitimate government and has received the support from different countries over the world.
The Cambodian Premier said as of Sept. 21, a total 59 leaders from 49 countries have sent their respective congratulatory messages to him.
At the same time, Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet took this auspicious event to reassure that Cambodia is a non-aligned nation, and Cambodia can make friends with any countries over the world.
“Even though Russia and Ukraine are having war, their respective leaders have extended congratulations to me, so did the leaders of South Korea and North Korea,” he stressed.
At the General Debate of 78th Session of the UN General Assembly (UNGA 78), held at the UN headquarters on Sept. 22, Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet said Cambodia will continue on its present path of independent and neutral foreign policy — based on the rule of law, equal mutual respect and adherence to the principles of the UN Charter — to promote its national interests, strengthen existing friendships and build more amicable ties.
Cambodia remains resolute against the threat or use of force in international relations, interference in the internal affairs of and aggression against other independent nations, he added.
Cambodia shall not authorise any foreign military base on its territory, as clearly stated in its constitution. Cambodia will not allow any country nor any group to use its territory against another country, the Premier underlined.
Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet said Cambodia will further endeavour to strengthen and expand good cooperation with nations around the world — through bilateral, regional and international frameworks — to contribute to global peace, security, stability, sustainable development and prosperity shared by all.
