The Ministry of Information of Cambodia and the Ministry of Communications and Digital of Malaysia will strengthen their cooperation in the fight against fake news and their exchange of experience on information and broadcasting sector.

This is the spirit of the bilateral meeting between Cambodian Minister of Information H.E. Neth Pheaktra and H.E. Ahmad Fahmi bin Mohamed Fadzil, Malaysian Minister of Communications and Digital, in Da Nang, Vietnam this afternoon on the sidelines of the 16th Conference of ASEAN Ministers Responsible for Information (AMRI) and related meetings.

H.E. Neth Pheaktra stated that in the context of digital society, the current trend of people accessing information is through modern media, especially social media like Facebook and TikTok.

While providing fast and rich contents, social media also provokes information pollution through ill-will fake news that negatively affects social stability and causes distrusts among people, underlined H.E. Minister, adding that fake news would also create chaos, damage to personal dignity, and confusion.

Therefore, H.E. Neth Pheaktra added, we all need to work together to prevent fake news.
