Cambodian PM Encourages CRBC to Accelerate Phnom Penh-Bavet Expressway Construction

AKP Phnom Penh, June 07, 2023 — Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, has encouraged the Chinese state-owned China Road and Bridge Corporation (CRBC) to speed up the construction of Phnom Penh-Bavet Expressway, Cambodia’s second expressway broken ground this morning.

The Cambodian Premier made the encouragement while receiving here at the Peace Palace this afternoon a courtesy visit from visiting Mr. Du Fei, President of CRBC, according to H.E. Eang Sophalleth, Personal Assistant to Samdech Techo Hun Sen.

The Prime Minister also asked CRBC to accelerate the feasibility studies of Phnom Penh-Siem Reap-Poipet Expressway whose framework agreement was inked at the Ministry of Public Works and Transport on June 7.

Samdech Techo Hun Sen spoke highly of the CRBC’s presence in Cambodia for more than 20 years, which has contributed to the construction of physical infrastructure, especially the first expressway from Phnom Penh capital to the deep seaport in Sihanoukville.

For his part, Mr. Du Fei thanked Samdech Techo Prime Minister for presiding over the groundbreaking ceremony for the Phnom Penh-Bavet Expressway and authorising the signing of Framework Agreement for Phnom Penh-Siem Reap-Poipet Expressway project.

Mr. Du Fei pledged to accelerate the construction project and dispatch a team of technicians to study the Phnom Penh-Siem Reap-Poipet Expressway in the near future.
