Cambodian PM Expresses Condolences on Passing of Viet Nam’s Top Leader

Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, has sent a condolence message to his Vietnamese counterpart H.E. Pham Minh Chính on the passing of H.E. Nguyen Phu Trong, General Secretary of the Communist Party of Viet Nam.

‘I am deeply saddened to learn of the passing today of H.E. Nguyen Phu Trong, General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Viet Nam. I would like to extend my deepest condolences and compassion to you and the bereaved family of the late General Secretary as well as the people of Viet Nam at this moment of great sorrow,’ read the message released this evening.

On behalf of the Government and people of the Kingdom of Cambodia, Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet also expressed his deepest condolences to the Communist Party of Viet Nam and the Government and people of Viet Nam at this moment of profound grief and immense loss.

‘General Secretary Trong devoted his entire life to the revolutionary causes of the Communist Party of Viet Nam fo
r the peace, development and prosperity of Viet Nam,’ he said. ‘This is a huge loss of an outstanding leader for Viet Nam and a good friend of Cambodia who always worked hard in contributing to fraternal Cambodia – Viet Nam ties.’

According to Vietnam News Agency (VNA), H.E. Nguyen Phu Trong passed away on July 19 afternoon at the age of 80 due to old age and severe illness.
