Cambodian PM Welcomes the Cooperation between Phnom Penh and Jeju

Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet has congratulated the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on the establishment of sister city alliance between Phnom Penh capital of Cambodia and Jeju Special Self-Governing Province of the Republic of Korea.

The signing of the MoU is part of the contribution to the promotion of relations and cooperation between the two countries, underlined the Cambodian Premier while receiving here this afternoon a courtesy visit from H.E. OH Young Hun, Governor of Jeju Special Self-Governing Province.

Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet also recalled their previous discussions during his official visit to the Republic of Korea on the establishment of sister city relationship between Phnom Penh and Jeju with a focus on promoting tourism growth and direct flights between Jeju and Siem Reap and Phnom Penh.

In addition, the Prime Minister encouraged H.E. Governor to continue cooperating with relevant ministries and institutions of Cambodia in finding opportunities for expansion of i
nvestment in Cambodian potential sectors.

For his part, H.E. OH Young Hun thanked Samdech Thipadei for supporting the MoU signing between Jeju and Phnom Penh, in addition to the MoU between Jeju and Siem Reap cultural province.

The Jeju governor informed Samdech Thipadei of his discussion with the Cambodian tourism minister on the possibility of connecting direct flights from Jeju to Cambodia. Besides, he expressed his interest to seek investment opportunities in other areas, including trade, agriculture, education and clean energy, etc. in the context of the strategic partnership between the Republic of Korea and the Kingdom of Cambodia.

The MoU on the establishment of sister city alliance between Phnom Penh and Jeju was signed at the Phnom Penh Capital Hall on June 12 between Phnom Penh Governor H.E. Khuong Sreng and Jeju Governor H.E. OH Young Hun.
