Cambodian Prime Minister Congratulates the Achievements in Health Sector


Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet has expressed his congratulations and appreciation for the health officers and medical practitioners for their active attention to the health service provision for the public.

Addressing the closing ceremony of the 43rd Health Conference, held here at the Chroy Changvar International Convention and Exhibition Centre this afternoon, Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet said Cambodian medical practitioners’ capacity has been proved during the COVID-19 pandemic.

‘If our medical practitioners were not strong, there would not be some 3,000 deaths during the COVID-19 spread, it would be more, […],’ he underlined, reaffirming further support from the 7th-mandate Royal Government for the health sector.

The Royal Government will continue to pay high attention to improve health services, build more capacity of medical practitioners, the Premier said.

H.E. Prof. Chheang Ra, Minister of Health, laid stress on the significant improvement of the health sector and c
alled for attention to non-communicable diseases (NCDs) such as cancer, diabetes, blood pressures, mental health, etc.

H.E. Prof. Chheang Ra emphasised the ministry’s commitment to further respond to health issues as well as to boost medical digitalisation to modernise the national health sector.

In 2023, Cambodia has a total of 31,452 heath officials across the country, including 1,163 specialist doctors; 3,428 medical doctors; 775 pharmacists, 359 dentists, 12,381 nurses; nearly 8,000 midwives; and 1,162 lab technicians.
