Cambodian Senior Parliamentary Delegation on an Official and Friendly Visit to China

A high-level Cambodian parliamentary delegation, led by Samdech Moha Rathsapheathika Thipadei Khuon Sudary, President of the National Assembly of Cambodia, has been on a five-day official and friendly visit to China from Sept. 22 to 26, at the invitation of H.E. Zhao Leji, Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress (NPC).

This visit aims to strengthen the bond of friendship and good cooperation between the two countries and their legislative bodies, deepening and expanding their relationship in both bilateral and multilateral frameworks.

This morning, the Cambodian parliamentary delegation visited the Great Wall, one of the world’s most famous historical sites.

The Great Wall visit aims to connect the rich and long-standing culture and civilisations of the two countries, fostering connections between their peoples as the foundation for cooperation in parliamentary diplomacy, tourism, trade, and economic sectors.

The Great Wall was continuously built from the 3rd century BC to th
e 17th century AD on the northern border of the country as a great military defence project. It spans approximately 21,196 kilometres, with the width varying between 4 and 9 meters. Inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1987, the Great Wall continues to attract millions of tourists worldwide.

As planned, Samdech Khuon Sudary and H.E. Zhao Leji will hold a bilateral meeting and sign a cooperation agreement on Monday in the afternoon.

The two parliamentary leaders will preside over the signing ceremony of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the secretariats of the legislative bodies, promoting bilateral exchanges, capacity building, and information and knowledge sharing at all levels.

This year is designated as the People-to-People Exchange Year, under the agreed strategy by the leaders of the two countries within the Diamond Cooperation framework, to build a high-quality, high-level, and high-standard Cambodia-China Community with a Shared Future.
