Cambodian, Thai NAs Satisfied with Relations and Cooperation between Both Countries

The National Assemblies (NAs) of Cambodia and Thailand have spoken highly of the progress in the relations and cooperation between the two neighbouring nations.

The appreciation was emphasised during a bilateral meeting between Acting President of the Cambodian NA H.E. Kitti Setha Pundit Cheam Yeap and visiting H.E. Wanmuhamadnoor Matha, President of the Thai NA, at the NA Palace in Phnom Penh on Mar. 21.

Both sides recalled their mutual support on inter-parliamentary forums such as the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), Asia-Europe Parliamentary Partnership (ASEP), Asia-Pacific Parliamentary Forum (APPF), and ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (AIPA), as well as the two governments’ commitment to promote tourism under the slogan ‘Two Kingdoms, One Destination’.

H.E. Kitti Setha Pundit Cheam Yeap took the opportunity to thank the Thai side for protecting the rights of Cambodian migrant workers in Thailand.

For his part, H.E. Wanmuhamadnoor Matha suggested a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between the two
NAs to strengthen their cooperation to be comprehensive. He also invited Samdech Moha Rathsapheathika Thipadei Khuon Sudary, President of the Cambodian NA, to visit Thailand to continue the discussion on the bilateral cooperation and the signing of the MoU between both NAs.

H.E. Wanmuhamadnoor Matha pledged to encourage more Thai investors to invest in Cambodia and further enhance the Cambodian migrant workers’ rights.

A high-level delegation of the Thai NA arrived in Phnom Penh on the morning of Mar. 21 for a three-day official and friendly visit in Cambodia.
