Cambodian Transport Minister Attending ITF 2024 Summit in Germany

A high-ranking delegation of the Cambodian Ministry of Public Works and Transport (MPWT) led by H.E. Minister PENG Ponea has been attending the International Transport Forum 2024 Summit (ITF 2024 Summit), themed ‘Greening Transport: Keeping Focusing in Times of Crisis,’ in Leipzig of Germany from May 22 to 24.

According to the MPWT, the participation was made at the invitation of H.E. Marius Skuodis, Lithuania’s Minister of Transport and Communication, and also Chairman of ITF 2024 Summit.

The agenda of ITF 2024 Summit includes 35 Ministerial Roundtable Meetings and Technical Meetings. The Ministerial Roundtable Meetings focus on six topics, namely Transport and Climate Change, Supply Chain Resilience, Ukraine issues, Council of Ministers of Transport Retreat, Cooperation for Transport Infrastructure Rehabilitation and Global Connectivity, and Inclusive Transport.

On the sidelines of the ITF 2024 Summit, H.E. PENG Ponea is scheduled to hold separate bilateral meetings with H.E. Young Tae Kim, ITF Secretary
General; his Lithuanian counterpart H.E. Marius Skuodis; H.E. Yang Li, China’s Vice Minister of Transport; and representative of Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB).

This year, the ITF 2024 Summit attracted over 1,200 participants, of them more than 110 are guest speakers and 45 transport ministers and vice ministers who represent their respective ITF member countries.

ITF 2024 Summit is an annual meeting aimed at discussing among governments, development partners and private sector to explore ways to improve transport, logistics, mobility sector.

As of now, ITF has a total of 66 member countries, and Cambodia became the 64th member of ITF in 2022.
