Canadian Ambassador Pledges to Further Tighten Cooperation with Cambodia


Ambassador of Canada to Cambodia H.E. Ms. Ping M. Kitnikone has expressed her satisfaction with the diplomatic relations and good cooperation between the two countries and pledged to continue strengthening and expanding the bilateral relationship and cooperation.

The commitment was reaffirmed by the Canadian diplomat while paying a courtesy call on Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet, at the Peace Palace here this morning.

H.E. Ms. Ping M. Kitnikone also informed Samdech Thipadei about the continued promotion of Canada-Cambodia trade and investment cooperation, as well as the strengthening of quality investment by Canadian companies in Cambodia.

For his part, Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet spoke highly of the good diplomatic relations between Cambodia and Canada, which have been established for more than 70 years. He thanked the Government and people of Canada for their contribution to the socio-economic development of Cambodia, especially human resource development, including the
training of Cambodian blue helmet troops and support for mine clearance.

Regarding trade and investment, he continued, the Cambodian Chamber of Commerce has opened a representative office in Canada as part of an effort to link the trade and investment ties and cooperation between the two countries.

The Prime Minister and the Ambassador also exchanged views on enhancing relations and cooperation in both bilateral and multilateral frameworks, focusing on Canada’s Indo-Pacific Strategy and toward the conclusion of ASEAN-Canada Free Trade Agreement for the common interest of both nations, as well as for peace, stability, prosperity and development in the region and the world.
