CDC, IPAAO Discuss Agri-Food Cooperation


The Council for the Development of Cambodia (CDC) and Indo Pacific Agriculture and Agri-Food Office (IPAAO) have discussed Cambodia’s agri-food trends and potential bilateral cooperation.

The discussion was held here at the CDC headquarters on Aug. 28 between H.E. Suon Sophal, Deputy Secretary General of Cambodian Investment Board of the CDC, and visiting Ms. Diedrah Kelly, Executive Director of Canada’s IPAAO, based in Manila, the Philippines.

On the occasion, H.E. Suon Sophal expressed warm welcome to Ms. Diedrah Kelly’s visit to Cambodia, and informed her about the current investment environment in Cambodia which the Royal Government has been striving to improve to be more attractive and favourable for both local and foreign investors without discrimination.

Regarding agri-food work, H.E. Suon Sophal cited Cambodia’s strategic agricultural products and the presence of the Agri-Food Investment Desk (AFID), a consultative desk specialising in agri-food promotion and attraction.

In reply, Ms. Diedrah Kel
ly thanked H.E. Suon Sophal for his detail information about the overview of Cambodia’s business favourable environment and trends in agri-food sector.

She firmly believed that IPAAO would be able to contribute to the implementation of joint activities with the CDC and AFID in the future to bring the bilateral cooperation to a new height.

Cambodia’s top agri-food products include mango, cashew nut, banana, Kampot pepper, sweet potato, longan, cassava, rice, sesame, chili, and so on.
