China invites Azerbaijani businesses to set up Qingdao offices


BAKU: Azerbaijani companies are invited to open their representative offices in Qingdao, Director of the West Asian and African Affairs Department of the Qingdao Municipal Trade Bureau Men Weiwei said, Trend reports.

Weiwei made the remark during a conference on promoting logistics and trade in Azerbaijan, a demonstration zone of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO).

She drove home the point that Azerbaijan, sitting right at the crossroads of Europe and Asia, has built up its transport infrastructure and is a major player on the Silk Road.

“We invite Azerbaijani logistics companies to open offices in Qingdao and collaborate in global logistics, sustainable development, workforce training, and other areas,” the official added.

Besides, she pointed out that Qingdao, as a significant trade port in China, enjoys a favorable geographic position linking East and West, with well-developed infrastructure for international trade.

“Azerbaijan, endowed with rich energy and agricultural resources, plays a cru
cial role on the southern route of the Silk Road and has great potential for cooperation with Qingdao.

We aim to deepen cooperation with Azerbaijani trading companies, expand the scale of trade, and promote the products of our enterprises on international markets,” Weiweu stressed.

Furthermore, the official highlighted that Azerbaijan is the birthplace of the modern oil industry and actively develops the digital economy and other economic diversification models.

“This aligns with Qingdao’s efforts to promote digital technologies. We hope that by leveraging Qingdao’s robust production base, comprehensive industrial infrastructure, and extensive market, Azerbaijani companies can realize their innovative ideas. We also welcome young entrepreneurs from Azerbaijan wishing to start businesses in Qingdao and are ready to provide maximum support in coworking and cultural activities,” she said.

According to her, Qingdao and Azerbaijan have established strong technology partnerships.

“In 2023, trade volume between
them reached 233 million yuan, more than five times higher than the previous year,” she added.

To note, Beijing is home to Azerbaijan’s sole trade representative office in China.
