China’s Jiangsu Province Seeks More Cooperation with Cambodia


A delegation of Jiangsu province of the People’s Republic of China led by Mr. Jiang Xin, Deputy Director General of the Department of Commerce, has been on a visit to Cambodia to seek more cooperation to boost trade and investment.

On Aug. 13 at the Council for the Development of Cambodia (CDC)’s headquarters in Phnom Penh, the visiting Chinese delegation was received by H.E. CHEA Vuthy, Secretary General of the CDC’s Cambodian Investment Board.

On the occasion, H.E. CHEA Vuthy mentioned about Sihanoukville Special Economic Zone (SSEZ) project, established by Sihanoukville Special Economic Zone Co., Ltd., a joint venture between Cambodia International Investment Development Group Co., Ltd. (CIIDG) and Jiangsu Taihu (Cambodia) International Economic Cooperation Investment Co., Ltd., on an area of 1,113 hectares in Preah Sihanouk province, and approved by the CDC since 2008.

As of now, he continued, the SSEZ which has attracted investment from Jiangsu province, has almost completed its first phase.

cretary General took the opportunity to request the Chinese delegation to help promote Cambodia’s favourable and highly competitive investment environment and potential to other Chinese investors and businesspeople, as well as to take into consideration the cooperation in human resource training.

For his part, Mr. Jiang Xin praised Cambodia’s rapid development, and thanked H.E. CHEA Vuthy for sharing information about investment environment in Cambodia and bilateral economic cooperation between Cambodia and China, especially the update on SSEZ.
