DPM SUN Chanthol Receives BYD General Manager


H.E. SUN Chanthol, Deputy Prime Minister and First Vice President of the Council for the Development of Cambodia (CDC), received here this morning visiting Mr. Liu Xueliang, General Manager of BYD Asia Pacific Auto Sales Division.

The aim of the meeting was to explore additional investment opportunities and potential of Cambodia.

H.E. SUN Chanthol informed his guest about the role of CDC as a facilitator for all investments in the country.

Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet has recently said that BYD – a publicly listed Chinese multinational manufacturing company – had intended to open an automotive assembly plant in the Kingdom.

Cambodia currently has six automotive assembly plants, including Daehan Auto manufacturing Ssangyong, RMA Automotive making Ford, Camko Motor producing Hyundai, HGB Motors Assembly manufacturing Kia, GTV Motor producing local brand cars GTV, and Toyota Tsusho Manufacturing (Cambodia) making Fortuner and Hilux.

From January to May 2024, Cambodia had
imported some US$385 million worth of vehicles.
