EFFORTS TO TRANSLATE, REVIEW SCHOLARLY BOOKS MUST BE ONGOING – MOHD NA’IM

KUALA LUMPUR, Efforts to translate and review hadith and scholarly books by prominent Islamic scholars into simpler Malay language need to be carried out continuously, said Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Religious Affairs) Datuk Dr Mohd Na’im Mokhtar.

He said such books can educate and shape a united community with positive values and a way of life aligned with Islamic teachings.

“Additionally, it provides a wider opportunity for the community to choose beneficial reading materials in a language that is closer to them,” he said in his speech at the launching of ‘Fiqh Al-Hadith Syarah Bulugh Al-Maram’ and ‘Edisi Khas Tafsir Mubin: Surah Al-Fatihah dan Juzuk 30’ books here today.

The text of his speech was read out by his political secretary Dr Muhamad Razak Idris.

In this regard, Mohd Na’im hopes that Dewan Bahasa dan Pustaka (DBP), as a reputable publisher, will continue to take steps in publishing quality books in various fields for the community.

“To develop and strengthen the status of
our national language, one of the most effective ways is through books. If we succeed in publishing many Malay-language books in various fields of knowledge, Malay will certainly become a respected language of knowledge by all layers of society,” he said.
