EMA 2023: A GREAT PLATFORM FOR SOLUTIONS EXCHANGE AND COOPERATION

KUALA LUMPUR, The inaugural E-Mobility Asia (EMA) 2023 event is a great platform for business communities to move from competition and cooperation to collaboration and co-creation of solutions for the betterment of humanity.

Singapore Water Association Vice President (General Affairs) Charles Quek said today that climate change challenges are a global concern and everyone needs to do their part and work together to address sustainability issues.

“I think ASEAN needs to work together to address sustainability issues; this is a global challenge, and governments also need to work together. There is a lot of international tension, especially with regards to the United States and China, and then we have the Taiwan Strait issues.

“So I think it is important for ASEAN countries to come together more often to collaborate and co-create solutions to address sustainability challenges in climate change issues, including rising sea levels, floods, extreme weather, food, and access to clean water,” he told Bernama at EMA 2023 here.

Quek, who is also HSL Constructor Pte Ltd chief executive officer, said that with its 650 to 700 million population in ASEAN, how the members work together to address climate change challenges will be critical to how ASEAN is going to develop in the next 30 to 50 years.

“I think if we don’t address this matter together, there will be tensions, whether social or political. This can also escalate to many other issues and create international tensions as well. So ASEAN should be a good platform, and I think businesses in Asia or in ASEAN countries must come together,” he said.

On Singapore’s participation in EMA 2023, Quek said a total of 10 companies had been brought in to exhibit or showcase their capabilities, expertise, and experience in various sectors.

“I’m actually representing the Singapore Water Association, and this is the first time that the Singapore Water Association is managing the Singapore pavilion, and we bring a consortium group of companies, including HSL Constructor, Aquax Pte Ltd, Tigernix Pte Ltd, Pure Active Water Pte Ltd and Novexx Pte Ltd, that have built up great expertise in sustainability areas to share their capabilities, experience, and track record expertise in sustainability with the Malaysian and international business communities.

“Through this event, we are looking to come out with a collaboration with entities such as the Malaysia Water Association, SPAN, and Air Selangor that made a visit to us yesterday, where there were already some exchanges among us… and today we will deepen our discussion because there is interest in some of the technologies and the possibility of some adoption in Malaysia as well,” he said.

Apart from showcasing their expertise, Quek said they also set up a Singapore Business Forum, business-to-business matchmaking, and business collaboration.

EMA 2023, a three-day event taking place at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre starting today, is to lift the bonnet on the growth and new sustainable business opportunities the industry has to offer from electric vehicles and innovative technologies.

EMA 2023 has a diverse range of over 150 exhibitors from 25 countries and regions, featuring the latest electrification technologies and innovation, including battery technology and charging systems.
