GM Korea’s July sales plunge 44.6 pct over production delays amid wage negotiations

GM Korea Co., the South Korean unit of General Motors Co., said Thursday its July sales plummeted over 40 percent from a year earlier due to production delays caused by facility maintenance and negotiations over wages.

GM Korea sold 22,564 vehicles last month, down 44.6 percent from a year ago, the company said in a statement.

Domestic sales fell 46.9 percent to 2,199 units, while exports also fell 44.3 percent to 20,365 units, the company said.

Gustavo Colossi, GM Korea’s vice president of sales and services, said the company aims to conclude the wage negotiations as soon as possible to recoup production losses and continue its sales growth momentum into the second half of the year.
