GS25 convenience stores grow rapidly in Mongolia, Vietnam

SEOUL, GS25 said Sunday it has strengthened its presence in Mongolia and Vietnam in recent years by aggressively expanding its outlets.

GS Group’s convenience store chain entered the Vietnamese and Mongolia markets in January 2018 and May 2021, respectively, as part of its expansion strategy, the company said in a statement.

The GS25 chain’s outlets in Vietnam have soared to 245 from 26 in 2018, and those in Mongolia surged to 273 from 34 in 2021.

“Sales in the two Asian countries also jumped, helped by K-foods, such as ‘tteokbokki,’ or stir-fried rice cakes, and fried chicken, as well as coffee and spaces for eating in GS25 stores,” the statement said.

Its overall overseas outlets currently stand at 518, jumping 20 times from 2018, when the company made its international foray.

GS Group aims to increase the number of GS25 stores to 1,000 in 2025 and 1,500 in 2027 based on robust demand in Asian countries.
