SEOUL, Hanwha Systems Co., a defense electronics and ICT solutions unit under Hanwha Group, said Tuesday it has signed a 142 billion-won (US$102.8 million) deal with the South Korean arms procurement agency to provide maintenance support for military networks.

Under the performance-based logistics (PBL) contract with the Defense Acquisition Program Administration (DAPA), Hanwha Systems will provide sustainment solutions for the 2024 tactical communication networks (TICN) project for nearly five years, starting this month, according to the company.

A PBL contract involves the weapon system developer being responsible for the development, deployment, operation and maintenance of the weapon system to ensure the reliable availability of key munitions.

Hanwha Systems is the key supplier of TICN, which supports high-speed, wired and wireless data transmission by integrating the military communication network into digital systems.

Hanwha Systems said it will apply its own platform for maintenance, repair and ope
ration (MRO), TOMMS, to this project for the first time.

TOMMS is an MRO-specific standard platform that can be used for the operational maintenance of domestic and foreign weapon systems.

Through the platform, the military can request maintenance, the supply of repair parts and technical support in real time, and receive prompt MRO services.

Additionally, the platform will provide data on possible failures and analysis based on real-time data collection and big data analysis.
