The heads of South Korea’s key business lobbies visited the United States to discuss ways to strengthen trade and supply chain cooperation between the countries, according to the organizations Thursday.

According to the Korea International Trade Association, Chairman Yoon Jin-sik traveled to Washington, D.C., this week to meet with key figures in the U.S. administration, Congress and the think tank community for discussions on bilateral trade-related issues.

He held meetings with Don Graves, U.S. deputy secretary of commerce, and Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH), chair of the judiciary committee of the U.S. House of Representatives. Yoon also hosted a reception for key lawmakers and opinion leaders at think tanks in Washington.

Ryu Jin, head of the Federation of Korean Industries (FKI), also visited Washington, D.C., this week for meetings with key political and economic figures to ask for support for South Korean companies operating in America.

The FKI chief’s meetings included those with Sen. Brian Schatz (D-HI)
