Japan will provide a loan of JPY 7,988 million (approximately US$55 million) for Cambodia to implement the Phnom Penh City Transmission and Distribution System Expansion Project (Phase 2) (III).

The Exchange of Notes and accompanying documents on the loan extension will be signed here on Sept. 6 between H.E. SOK Chenda Sophea, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, and H.E. UENO Atsushi, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Cambodia.

According to a press release of the Cambodian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation issued on Sept. 4, the loan underscores Japan’s steadfast commitment to supporting Cambodian government’s endeavours to foster socio-economic development.

The loan also contributes to further strengthening and deepening the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between the two countries, underlined the same source.
