JAPEN TO HOST ‘EKSPRESI BULAN KEBANGSAAN 2024’ PROGRAMME TO IGNITE PATRIOTIC SPIRIT

KUALA LUMPUR: In conjunction with this year’s National Day and Malaysia Day celebration, the Information Department (JaPen) will organise the ‘Ekspresi Bulan Kebangsaan 2024’ programme to fuel the spirit of patriotism among the community.

The two-day programme, starting tomorrow at the Kuala Lumpur Sentral Station, serves as a pre-celebration event leading up to the festivities on Aug 31 and Sept 16.

JaPen’s Media and Corporate Communications director Datuk E. Sivabalan said the programme would feature various activities and exhibitions from 10 am to 4.30 pm, with Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil scheduled to officiate the event on Sunday at 2.30 pm.

‘Among them is an exhibition showcasing miniatures depicting historical events before and after independence, as it is essential for the younger generation to learn about our independence history.

‘There will be exhibitors from JaPen, the Malaysian Armed Forces, the Department of Culture and Arts, the Broadcasting Department (RTM), and the Malaysian Commu
nications and Multimedia Commission. There is much to see and learn through Ekspresi Bulan Kebangsaan 2024,’ he said when appearing as a guest on Bernama TV’s Apa Khabar Malaysia programme today.

Sivabalan said there would also be service programmes, colouring and drawing contests for children, as well as singing, dance and busking performances.

Elaborating, he said the pre-celebration event intended to remind the public about the history behind the nation’s independence on Aug 31, 1957 and the formation of Malaysia on Sept 16, 1963.

‘Sometimes we forget our history, so it is essential to remind people about events before, during and after National Day and Malaysia Day because both events are very significant.

‘Although the celebrations are still a while away, the purpose of the Ekspresi Bulan Kebangsaan 2024 programme is to ensure the public appreciates and understands National Day and Malaysia Day,’ he said.

Sivabalan also mentioned that JaPen would launch the ‘One Home, One Jalur Gemilang’ programme d
uring the Ekspresi Bulan Kebangsaan 2024 to encourage the public to fly and decorate their homes with the national flag.

‘We also hope the private sector will assist the government and JaPen in promoting this programme, and they are also encouraged to decorate their premises with the Jalur Gemilang,’ he said.
