Jessa Khan Withdraws from 19th Asian Games in China for Personal Reasons

AKP Phnom Penh, September 18, 2023 — The Ju-Jitsu Federation of Cambodia (JJFC) has announced the withdrawal of national athlete JESSA KHAN from the 19th Asian Games in Hangzhou city of Zhejiang province, the People Republic of China.

“The decision to no longer participate in the Ju-Jitsu Competition of the 19th Asian Games was made entirely by Jessa Khan herself, citing personal reasons,” said JJFC in an official announcement dated Sept. 17.

The JJFC had no involvement in arriving at this decision, and it should not undermine the efforts and standards of the Federation, said the same source, stressing that the federation continues to maintain a professional working relationship with Jessa. She was due to compete in the Ne-waza Women’s -52kg category on Oct. 6, 2023.

“We remain focused and committed in supporting national athlete MOEUN LIM SOPANHA to reach the podium in the Ne-waza Men’s -69kg category and endeavour to bring home a medal for Cambodia from this year’s Hangzhou Asiad,” underlined JJFC.
