KKDW TO FOCUS ON REPAIR , REPLACING OF DILAPIDATED HOMES WITH NEW ONES IN KEDAH

The Rural and Regional Development Ministry (KKDW) will focus on building new houses, as well as replacing dilapidated houses, in Kedah in an effort to provide comfortable homes for the people in the state.

Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said the Rural and Regional Development Ministry had identified some settlement areas having dilapidated houses and was waiting for a complete list from the Kedah Regional Development Authority (KEDA).

“We are still waiting for the complete list to know the actual number of houses that needs repair or require the building of new ones,” he said.

Ahmad Zahid, who is also the Minister of Rural and Regional Development, told this to reporters after the walkabout programme at Desa KEDA Sadek here today.

He said the focus will be on the Baling district which had been hit by floods 11 times during the last General Election.

Meanwhile, Ahmad Zahid said KKDW through KEDA had built eight units of semi-detached houses at the Settlement Programme for the Hardcore Poor (PPRT) in Desa KEDA Sadek last year, involving an allocation of RM528,000.
