KPT TO DISTRIBUTE RM100 BOOK VOUCHERS FROM TOMORROW

PUTRAJAYA: The Ministry of Higher Education (KPT) will distribute the RM100 book e-vouchers in stages from tomorrow until Dec 31.

It said that for the first phase, the KPT would offer 50,000 e-vouchers in support of the Kuala Lumpur International Book Fair (PBAKL) 2024.

It added that the voucher code would be generated after the eligibility check is done on the GREaT (Graduate Reference Hub for Employment and Training) portal at https://great.mohe.gov.my, starting tomorrow at 10 am.

The Ministry said the redemption of the voucher codes generated on the GREaT portal would only be valid for online book purchases on the BookCapital platform at https://bookcapital.com.my, with each student eligible to redeem the RM100 voucher for one transaction only.

“This initiative is set to benefit over 1.2 million Malaysian IPT (institutions of higher learning) students.

“The vouchers are given as a move towards helping to inculcate a culture of love of knowledge and books, thus develop a culture of reading, especially
among IPT students,’ it said in a statement today.

As such, the ministry hopes the initiative will not only invigorate the culture of reading but will also boost the academic book industry and local scientific discourse.

The KPT added that the rest of the book vouchers would be distributed in the following stages through a mechanism that will be announced later.

On the BookCapital platform, the KPT said its selection comes under the management of Perbadanan Kota Buku, which is the co-organiser of the PBAKL 2024, and which aims to facilitate users throughout the book fair period.

“Other platforms will be used in the following phases,’ the KPT said.

Yesterday, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim announced that pupils from Year Four and above, all the way to secondary and tertiary levels, as well as those in teacher education institutes, will be given RM100 book vouchers.
