LCK Summer Split for 2024 season kicks off in Seoul

The South Korean summer league of League of Legends’ (LoL) 2024 season kicked off in Seoul on Wednesday to pick teams to compete for tickets to the LoL World Championship later this year, its organizer said.

The opening game of the LoL Champions Korea summer split started at 5 p.m. between Dplus Kia and Hanwha Life, according to the organizer.

Gen.G and T1, last year’s top two, will clash on Sunday.

In the summer tournament, 10 teams will play a total of 90 games and the upper six will move on to the play-offs set to begin on August 23. The finals will be held in the southeastern city of Gyeongju on Sept. 8.

The winner of the Summer Split will automatically win a ticket for this year’s Worlds, which will kick off in Berlin on Sept. 25. South Korea has four tickets to the LoL World Championship.

In this year’s spring split that started in January, Gen.G beat T1, the defending world champion, to reign at the top of the Korean league.

Gen.G also won the 2024 Mid-Season Invitational in China last month.
