The South Korean summer league of League of Legends’ (LoL) 2024 season will kick off in Seoul next month to pick teams to compete for tickets to the LoL World Championship later this year, its organizer said Thursday.

The opening game of the LoL Champions Korea summer split will be held between Dplus Kia and Hanwha Life on June 12, according to the organizer.

Gen.G and T1, last year’s top two, will clash on June 16.

In the upcoming summer tournament, 10 teams will compete and the upper six will move on to the play-offs set to begin on June 23. The finals will be held in the southeastern city of Gyeongju on Sept. 8.

The winner of the Summer Split will automatically win a ticket for this year’s Worlds. South Korea has a total of four tickets to the LoL World Championship.

In this year’s spring split that started in January, Gen.G beat T1, the defending world champions, to reign at the top of the Korean league.

Gen.G also won the 2024 Mid-Season Invitational in China earlier this month to represent South K
orea in the inaugural Esports World Cup, set to take place in Saudi Arabia from July 4 to Aug. 24.
