Lions manager to ease reliever Oh Seung-hwan into action after minor league stint

Samsung Lions manager Park Jin-man said Tuesday veteran reliever Oh Seung-hwan, the career saves leader in South Korean baseball, will be eased into late-inning situations following his recent minor league stint

In the midst of a trying season in the Korea Baseball Organization (KBO), Oh was demoted to the minor league for the first time this year on Aug. 16. He rejoined the Lions for Tuesday’s game against the Kiwoom Heroes in Seoul after spending his minimum 10 days in the minors.

Oh had a solid 3.79 ERA with 24 saves in 37 outings in the first half. Following the All-Star break, though, Oh had an ugly 7.88 ERA in 11 appearances. He had served up three home runs in 38 innings in the first half but three homers in only eight innings in the second half before his demotion.
