LS Cable’s unit wins cable supply deal in Vietnam

LS Cable and System Ltd., South Korea’s biggest cable company, said Thursday its unit has received an extra-high voltage cable supply deal in Vietnam.

LS Eco Energy will supply the high voltage cables to Vietnam Electricity (EVN), the Southeast Asian country’s state-owned electricity utility, LS Cable said in a statement.

LS Cable owns a 67 percent stake in LS Eco Energy.

The cables will be installed in the infrastructure projects of Ho Chi Minh City’s Tan Son Nhat International Airport and an industrial complex in the northeastern part of the country, it said.

LS Eco Energy produces extra-high voltage cables in its Vietnam plant and accounts for 80 percent of the local cable market. It also exports Vietnam-made cables to Europe and North America.

LS Cable did not provide the value of the contract and other details.
