KUALA LUMPUR, Maxis, Malaysia’s leading integrated telecommunications company, has unveiled its Maxis Scholarship Programme 2024 to empower students through comprehensive financial support for their higher education journeys.

Maxis said that the programme this year focuses on science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) students, combining financial aid with valuable industry exposure to enable students to achieve their aspirations.

‘Open to first-year Malaysian undergraduate students studying in either Malaysia and Singapore, the financial assistance covers tuition fees and living expenses, as well as the offer of internship opportunities and guaranteed job placements with Maxis upon graduation.

‘The emphasis on STEM education reflects Maxis’ commitment to advancing the nation’s digital agenda. As part of this commitment, the company aims to nurture digitally equipped and future-ready talent,’ the company said in a statement here today.

In addition to academic requirements, applicants will al
so be assessed holistically based on their extracurricular activities, leadership skills and communication skills.

The programme, which has assisted over 330 students, is open for degrees such as engineering (network, telecommunications, software, mechanical, electrical, electronic), technology (artificial intelligence (AI), cloud computing, computer science, cybersecurity, data science, information technology (IT), mathematics, statistics or actuarial science, and accounting, finance or economics.

Maxis’ chief people and transformation officer, Patrick Er said that the company will continue supporting education in Malaysia through the scholarship programme and other ongoing initiatives.

‘We believe in empowering high-potential young Malaysians as they are the nation’s future leaders. By providing them with the right tools and opportunities, we can develop well-rounded talent who are able to succeed in tomorrow’s digital economy,’ he said.

Applications are open until Oct 31 and applicants must be Malaysia
n citizens aged between 18 and 23, have obtained admission into a recognised higher education institution in Malaysia or Singapore, and are currently enrolled in or undertaking their first year of undergraduate studies.
