Minister Urges Media’s Contribution to One Health Platform

The Minister of Information calls on the media in Cambodia to produce and disseminate journalistic reports via the Media for One Health platform to contribute to preventing potential future crises.

H.E. Neth Pheaktra made the call when co-chairing the launch of Media for One Health organised by the French media development agency CFI with H.E. Jacques PELLET, Ambassador of the French Republic to Cambodia, in Phnom Penh on July 29.

The Southeast Asian region, including Cambodia, is facing the consequences of global climate change, including unprecedented global warming, which poses increasing unpredictable climate as well as health risks.

Therefore, he added, the role of the media in producing more quality reports related to natural resources, climate change, public health, and food security, which are highly interconnected, is vital to further building public awareness.

According to H.E. Jacques PELLET, non-governmental organisations and international organisations across the region have joined hands in
producing and documenting climate change and health-related reports using the One Health platform.

The further contribution of the media will enrich information and resources, including answers to inquiries and coping strategies against emerging climate and health risks, H.E. Ambassador said.
