Police looking into purported KMA document about blacklisting doctors not participating in walkout

Police launched an investigation Friday into what purports to be a Korea Medical Association (KMA) document ordering the listing of trainee doctors not participating in a walkout protesting the government’s decision to increase the medical school quota.

The document, which was uploaded on an online community site Thursday with the seal of the KMA chairman, orders creating and distributing a list of interns and resident doctors not participating in the walkout.

Police said they are looking into how the document was drawn up.

The KMA said the document is a fake.

Joo Soo-ho, the chief KMA spokesperson, said the organization has never produced such a document.

“We’re preparing all legal measures, including filing a complaint with an investigation agency,” he said.
