President of Singapore Notices Cambodia’s Young Human Resources


President of Singapore H.E. Tharman Shanmugaratnam has expressed his optimism that the potential of Cambodia’s young human resources and the progress of vocational training in the Kingdom will be a driving force to attract investment and boost development in all domains, especially energy, manufacturing industry, and other potential sectors.

H.E. Tharman Shanmugaratnam made the remarks during a courtesy meeting with Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet on June 18 evening, during the latter’s two-day official visit in Singapore.

The Singaporean president also spoke highly of the good relations between Singapore and Cambodia in all areas, including economy, trade, defence, and human resource development. He hoped that the two countries will work closely together towards better cooperation for the interest of both nations.

For his part, Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet thanked the Government and the people of Singapore for their warm welcome. As their diplomatic ties will turn 60 years ol
d next year, he continued, the two countries will seek cooperation on development in all fields, including business relations, the private sector, government, security, and so on.

Samdech Thipadei and H.E. Tharman Shanmugaratnam also discussed mechanisms and policy frameworks for environmental protection, especially the fight against climate change, to ensure the resilience of the two economies, focusing on expanding the use of renewable energy towards the achievement of ASEAN Power Grid.

For the cooperation on investment and trade, Samdech Thipadei stressed that the two countries will make efforts to further increase bilateral investment and trade volume, as well as promote tourism. In addition, the two countries will increase cooperation in the fields of finance and banking and technology.

Both leaders also agreed to encourage the relevant ministries and institutions of the two governments to continue discussions to define cooperation on agriculture, trade, investment and other areas.
