KANGAR, Perlis athletes who win gold medals in individual events at the 2024 Malaysia Games (SUKMA) in Sarawak will receive a cash incentive of RM5,000.
Menteri Besar Mohd Shukri Ramli said gold medal winners will receive an immediate cash reward of RM1,000, with the remaining RM4,000 to be awarded at the SUKMA Athletes Appreciation Ceremony after the games.
Silver medallists in individual events will receive a total cash incentive of RM3,700, while bronze medallists will be awarded RM2,400.
‘An immediate cash reward of RM700 will be given to silver medal winners and RM400 to bronze medal winners, with the remaining amount to be presented during the appreciation ceremony,’ he told a press conference here today.
Mohd Shukri said Perlis athletes will also compete in eight core sports at the upcoming games, including athletics, weightlifting, taekwondo, lawn bowls, silat, shooting, sailing and sepak takraw.
The Perlis contingent for SUKMA 2024 comprises 398 individuals, including 284 athletes and 114 offic
ials, with athletes participating in 28 different sports.
SUKMA 2024 will take place from Aug 17-24 across nine divisions in Sarawak, namely Kuching, Samarahan, Serian, Sri Aman, Betong, Sibu, Mukah, Miri and Betong.
