Royal Government Conducts Active Foreign Affairs

The 7th-mandate Royal Government of Cambodia has conducted busy and active foreign affairs to strengthen relationship with friendly countries and attract new investment to the Kingdom.

In a press conference on the one-year achievement of the 7th-mandate Royal Government held here at the Office of the Council of Ministers this morning, H.E. Jean-François Tan, Minister Attached to the Prime Minister, said that over the past year, Prime Minister Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet traveled to 16 countries across five continents, including Asia, America, Africa, Europe and Oceania, to pay official visits and attend international meetings.

Cambodia’s diplomacy has two main objectives: first, to tighten old friendships and forge new ones, and second, to strengthen Cambodia’s position on the international stage and to continue to urge the international community to respect Cambodia as a fully sovereign state, he underlined.

H.E. Jean-François Tan also reiterated Cambodia’s stance to oppose any foreign interfe
rence in her internal affairs, and to pursue a fully independent foreign policy based on international law and the principles of the UN and ASEAN Charters.

Furthermore, he laid stress on the economic diplomacy, being actively implemented by the Royal Government led by Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet to achieve the country’s ambition of becoming an upper-middle-income economy by 2030 and a high-income nation by 2050.

The main objectives of economic diplomacy are to promote international trade, attract foreign investment, boost tourism and cultural and sports exchanges, as well as promote the country on the regional and international stage.
