The industry ministry said Wednesday it has discussed industrial cooperation in cutting-edge sectors with a U.S. delegation of business officials.

Deputy Trade Minister Park Jong-won met with the delegation led by Tami Overby, vice chair of the US-Asia Institute, to share opinions on ways to bolster bilateral ties, according to the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy.

The delegation included officials from U.S. businesses with close relationships with the South Korean market, such as Coupang Inc., Organon, FedEx Corp. and MSPC.

During the meeting, Park highlighted the critical role of businesses in advancing bilateral cooperation toward an alliance in cutting-edge industries and supply chains.

Park also asked U.S. companies to pay close attention to the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation summit, which will be held next year in South Korea’s southeastern city of Gyeongju, to facilitate regional cooperation in various areas, from economic to social issues.
