S. Korea to provide US$500,000 worth of humanitarian aid to quake-hit Taiwan

South Korea will provide US$500,000 worth of humanitarian assistance to Taiwan to help the country cope with the aftermath of the latest deadly earthquake, the foreign ministry said Thursday.

The government hopes the aid will help the residents in the affected areas make a swift return to their everyday lives and help with the region’s recovery efforts, the ministry said.

The powerful quake struck the east coast of Taiwan on April 3, which left 16 dead and over 1,100 injured.
