S. Korean biz lobby KCCI opens third overseas office in Germany

SEOUL, The Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI), a major South Korean business lobby, said Monday it opened its third overseas office in Germany.

The KCCI said it opened the office in Frankfurt, following openings of previous overseas offices in Beijing and Hanoi in 1993 and 2009, respectively.

“The office located in Frankfurt will strengthen the private network between South Korea and Germany and seek strategic responses to common issues faced by both countries,” the chamber said.

According to the chamber, Germany has the largest number of registered South Korean business branches among European nations, with over 880 established in the country. Trade volume between the two countries hit a record high of US$33.9 billion last year.

The KCCI said the Frankfurt office will serve as a platform for economic cooperation between businesses of both countries.

It will pursue various cooperative projects, including sharing of information on the latest European Union policies, and German laws and regulat
ions, as well as support the establishment of networks with the German government and economic organizations.
